The TriMed Ulnar shortening plate system offers a reliable, reproducible and uncomplicated surgical technique.
The system is simple to use with a series of cutting guides to ensure precise shortening. The plate may be used on either the volar or dorsal side. The plate is designed with a groove on the undersurface which allows easy removal of the bone wedge without removing the plate. This avoids the possibliity of rotation of the fragments and increased chance of non-union. Once the wedge is removed the compression clamp is applied which also ensures the correct alignment of the fragments, followed by a compression screw perpendicular to the osteotomy.
The new system contains a lower profile plate with the option of locking screws.
