PyroCarbon PIP

The Ascension PyroCarbon PIP is a two component total joint replacement made from biocompatible pyrocarbon. The implant is anatomically designed to promote implant alignment and stability.

The Ascension PyroCarbon PIP minimizes bone removal and has the potential to restore joint kinematics. The dorsal notch allows for reattachment of the central slip. Components are press fit eliminating the need for cement. Four interchangeable sizes (one size up one size down) with 10 total sizing options. User friendly instrumentation and instrument tray design. Cutting and alignment guides, color coded broaches and trials facilitate accuracy and allow for reproducible technique.

Indications:

It is intended for use as a total joint replacement of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joints in cases of:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Post-traumatic arthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Contraindications:

Include:

  • Physiological unsuitable patient
  • Skin, bone, circulatory and/or neurological deficiency
  • Non-functioning and irreparable musculotendinous system
  • Indications of active sepsis or infection
  • Inadequate bone stock
